Brrrrrr….welcome to another week. It’s cold enough here in the UK to freeze our flippers, so we’re making sure the team are all wrapped up when venturing past the front door.

One thing we noticed over the weekend was the very wintry, steamy windows which occur when we’re all cosy inside and it’s f-f-f-f-freezing out….and as with most things it got us thinking. Our minds drifted back to the days of Dickens, and all those traditional wintry shop windows (we may even have watched Scrooge just to fit with the mood). It’s amazing how the simplest things can create a feeling and associated memories in your mind. We could smell the chestnuts toasting and taste the mulled wine…mmmmmm.

Nowadays our shop windows are as much our online presence as the physical shops in the street. Unless you are lucky enough to be a store like Harrods or Bloomingdales and a budget to match (we LOVE those Christmas window displays). Your website or social media page may be the first thing a potential customer sees, and they will make a decision in less than three seconds as to whether to look further into your store. So if you want to entice them in, your “window” must convey rather a lot in those brief seconds.

Firstly, customers need to understand what it is you are selling, there is no point having beautiful imagery if there is no clue as to what it’s all about. You risk annoying the viewer as they feel they’ve wasted their time, or have been misled….not a great start. Secondly, it should say something about you, not just the words but the images, traditional, modern, space age….or just mad as a box of frogs 🙂 . Lastly (but definitely not least) it should be unique, you are unique and your customers want to know how…. why should they buy from YOU? That’s a lot to get across in the blink of an eye.

Our MFD team have years of expertise working with some of the largest companies in the world, and lots of small ones too, ready to help get you noticed for all the right reasons. No need to wait for the right window, in the right street, with the right weather conditions…..

Have a hoppy week all. Watch out for all those brass monkeys…
